My camera and I ~

Greetings... to me...don't think anyone will actually read my blog even though it is "public".  I however do not advertise this blog.  Why?  Well... because it is kind of personal.. :)

New items... a few weeks ago there was this beautiful lightening storm to the south of us which most likely occured on the northern side of New Mexico.  I was standing outside smoking a cig and really didn't anything in particular.  I was standing all alone..... and I noticed a flash occuring to my left look north.  Oh, I thought.. a thunderstorm.  I decided to walk closer and I couldn't believe it.   You couldn't hear the thunder.  The beautiful display was too far away.  I stood there for about 15 minutes in awe.. It was like a firework display constantly going.  I had never seen anything like this before in my entire life.  I thought about taking pictures and thought it would be too dark, but in mind... it was worth a try.. The lightening was so prevalent I thought my camera might pick it up on video or if I zoon in, it might pick up something.  I ran upstairs 2 flights of stairs to room 203 and grabbed my Sony digital camera out of my coat pocket handing on the back of chair and rushed back downstairs.  When I go to my destination, I noticed there was now a crowd out there and many were filming, taking pictures with their smart phone or rather attempting too... I though, I'll show them... I have a 20 mxp Carl Zeis lens camera in my hand.  I turned it on and was ready to shoot.   I saw a white screen with a black streak running across it.  I thought... got to be some mistake.  Turned it off, then back on again and still white screen.  Flock, I thought.. my camera is ruined.  I did notice however that the camera gave the click sound when I took a picture.  I thought.. maybe I can capture in the blind... I took lots of video with the zoon on, hoping to capture the continuous lightening storm and tried taking stills as well.  I couldn't adjust any camera settings due to the screen.  The crowd grew larger and I stood there with a very bright white screen.  Many were being bitten by mosquito's, but was not harmed in anyway by those blood thirsty flying creatures.  I decided to stop and went back up to my room and pouted.  I thought how could this camera be broken.  The only logical explanation I could come up with is I must of accidentally sat on it when I sit down in front of my laptop, but shrugged bacause I would of thought I would of felt it.  It also had a padded case.  I know I didn't drop it.  The last time I took pictures was about 2 weeks prior.  I do remember taking lots of photo's... over 100 of them on a relatively warm day.  Could that be the manufacture defect?  Did I burn out the camera.  Another thought was when I sat, the camera turned on.  When the camera turns on, the lens extends and with sitting near on top of it.. that could be another possibility.  I have had that happen before when I put the camera back in the case.  It is very tight case and that most likely caused the damage.  Whatever the case, I was heartbroken... Heart broken enough that I didn't even touch the camera for almost a week.  I just considered it broken.  I mean.. how am I going to take pictures in the blind anyways.  I still didn't know if it would take good pictures still.

Actually about a few days ago, I decided to plug it in.  If anything to download the 100 or so pictures I took.  I have yet to share any of them.  Anyways, I plugged her into my desktop and waited for the photo's to upload.. I didn't think I had taken that many pictures.  I do remember that day by the Arkansas river doing lots of experimenting and using almost all the features that the camera has built in which is quite a bit.  The pictures starting uploading and I could view each picture uploaded, but the view was very brief.  I knew that my camera was not completely broken.  I checked my file first for that night of excitement.  Yes, the camera did work, but none of the pictures turn out except a few of the "Nemesis" moon shots I took.  Now that I knew it worked, now to find out which mode the camera is in.  I took a few snapshots out of my window and took a picture of my laptop.  The picture out of the window was completely black and white, but the picture of my lap top was also back and white, but had one difference.  My cup on the table is red,  That showed.... So, now I'm stuck on the black and white and red only.  Not a bad combination actually,  I've been enjoyed black and white photo's lately on facebook and maybe should shoot more black and white.  My software also can work with black and white photo's and in fact I uploaded one the other day. To be able to change modes, I would have to press the menu button do one step and then take a picture.. might be in the black and white and green mode... I have yellow as well.  Anyways, I have no view finder.  I can still take a picture and might have to crop some pictures.  When I take pictures, I very rarely crop.  When I take a picture, no cropping is required.  I also do not use flash. I like natural colors and such.  It is there if I need it however.  First thing I do on a camera is turn off the flash.  :)

I've still in school for Art and Nutrition and seem to be doing well.  Art is rather fun.  Made a fish with wire and tissue for our first project and painted a copy of a painting from a famous artist.  Got my hands dirty... Kind of felt like a kid again... :)

Anyways, enough for now ~ :)
